The Black Hills State University volleyball team took on former Dakota Athletic Conference opponent Dickinson State University at the Young Center in Spearfish. The Yellow Jackets rolled to an easy victory in three straight sets by scores of 25-12, 25-15, 25-11.
The Yellow Jackets were once again led offensively by the big three. Junior Kylee Lamb and sophomores Caitlin Templeton and Amy O'Neill tallied a total of 30 kills between the threesome. Templeton led the team with 11 kills on 18 attempts. Lamb was close behind with 10 kills on 15 attempts with two errors. Black Hills State also got a solid contribution from freshman libero Kelsey Olson who added 11 digs for the Yellow Jackets.
"This was another solid win at home for us. Our team is starting to become more comfortable taking control of the game by dictating the play on our side of the net and worrying less about what the other team is bringing at us," said head coach Sally Nichols. "We are starting to react to competitive pressure situations in practice and it is really showing once we step on the court come game day. We're ready to go tomorrow."
The Yellow Jackets are back in action again Saturday against another NCAA Division II candidacy team in Minot State. The game is slated to begin at 3 p.m. at the Young Center in Spearfish.
