Spartan Football Camp
The 2013 Spearfish Spartan Football Camp is coming up in July. Camp for students in grades 3-8 will be July 22-25. Grades 3-5 will meet from 2:00-4:00 p.m. while grades 6-8 will have camp from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The Spartan Football Camp for high school students in grades 9-12 will run July 29-31 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. each evening.

Tyhurst Named New Spartan Boys Basketball Coach
Spearfish High School has offered the Head Boys' Basketball coaching position to Mr. Adam Tyhurst. Coach Tyhurst is currently a lower level coach for the Yankton Bucks and previously coached at Eastern Oregon University and Dakota Wesleyan University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Master of Arts in both Educational Policy and Administration and Teaching. He will also be teaching math at Spearfish High School.
Coach Tyhurst will take over the coaching duties from Erik Skoglund who will become the head boys' basketball coach in Mitchell. The Spearfish High School administration felt fortunate to have had a number of qualified applicants for this position, and feel that Coach Tyhurst will best fit into their program both athletically and academically.

CASA Marathon And 5K Dates Set
Anyone interested in participating in the Northern Hills Area CASA Spearfish Canyon Half Marathon and 5K run/walk are encouraged to register by CLICKING HERE or print off a registration form and mail it, along with the registration fee, to Northern Hills Area CASA, 1940 North Avenue, Suite 6, Spearfish, SD 57783.
Early registration ends for the half marathon on June 23 and the fee is $50.00. Early registration for the 5K ends on July 11 and the fee is $25.00. After the deadline passes, the registration fee for the half marathon is $60.00 and participants under the age of 12 can participate for free.
For those interested in sponsoring a runner, they can donate to the cause online until July 13.
