South Dakota is now the 39th state to expand Medicaid. Last November, South Dakota voters approved Medicaid expansion through Amendment D. Coverage is now available for more than 52-thousand South Dakotans for the federal and state health insurance program after going into effect on July 1st. South Dakota’s Department of Social Services says Medicaid applications can be made online, print, or by mail.
