South Dakota residents are not as needy as residents in most other states, according to a recent study. Financial services website WalletHub recently ranked all 50 states to determine which ones are the “most and least independent” states. The website used criteria, such as personal vices, support from the federal government, international trade, and consumer finance and debt. South Dakota Ranked 19th overall. Utah is at the top of the ranking, while Louisiana is at the bottom.
