Randy Doran Named Next BHSU Women’s Golf Coach

Director of Athletics Mark Nore has named Randy Doran as Black Hills State’s next full-time women’s golf coach, officially removing the interim tag. As part of this transition, Doran will resign his duties as the Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) for BHSU as he transitions into his full-time coaching role.

“I am so honored to be able to serve as the head women’s golf coach, and a huge thank you to Athletic Director Mark Nore for believing in me and also to Kristin Carmichael, Jade Temple, and Jhett Albers for the opportunity to begin this journey as the interim coach back in August,” said Doran. “I was fortunate to take over a team of incredible young women, and together we accomplished many individual bests and a couple of program records this past year largely through their outstanding work ethic and commitment.”

Doran has served as the interim golf coach for the 2023-24 academic year. He brings 10 years of collegiate coaching experience, originally coming to Black Hills State in 2015 as an assistant football coach.

Since arriving at BH, Doran has served as the co-Special Teams coordinator for the football team and has spent one season as an assistant softball coach. Additionally, he has taught mathematics at BHSU full-time for five years.

Heading into next year, Doran comments, “We return our entire roster next year and are adding a couple talented freshman as we continue to build up this program.”

In his FAR role, he has served the BHSU community as the liaison between athletics (BHSU, RMAC, and NCAA) and the larger Black Hills State community for the last two years. He also served on the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) competition committee.

Black Hills State will name a new FAR at a later date.
