Cody Oliver has been with KDSJ since 2006 as the News and Sports Director. He grew up around Lemmon, South Dakota, and graduated from Lemmon High School in 2002. He always knew he wanted to be in radio and broadcast sports since being a kid and doing the play-by-play of basketball games in the stands. “When you talk to yourself, somebody will listen.” Being raised on a ranch and around a hard working family has developed his work ethic in everything he does.
Cody graduated from Black Hills State in 2006 with a Mass Communications degree with an emphasis in broadcasting. Working at KBHU-Radio and KBHU-TV helped greatly in learning about the business, audio production and sports broadcasting.
At KDSJ, Cody covers news and sports. From getting the daily news, interviewing numerous guests and doing play-by-play for sporting events. He stays quite busy. Cody says the best thing about local radio is “everyday is a little bit different. When you get to work you never know what you might be in for. Weather developments, news stories, sporting events, community happenings and the hope that technology will work with you.”
Cody hopes to continue the wide range of sports coverage on KDSJ and wants to continue to bring the loyal listeners the local news, events and happenings from around the area each day.
