Attorney General Marty Jackley says that a South Dakota Senator inappropriately used COVID relief funds. Senator Jessica Castleberry of Rapid City allegedly collected more than six-hundred-thousand dollars for a business that she owns — Little Nest Preschool. Jackley says that the State Supreme Court ruled in 2020 that such payments to elected officials were illegal. Castleberry is being made to pay back that full amount and given ten days to respond. The Rapid City senator said in her own news release on Thursday that she consulted with independent counsel before applying for COVID-19 money.
