Black Hills Gold Hits-KDSJ 980 AM/103.5 FM is a radio station offering a full service format of music, news, weather and sports. Licensed to Deadwood, South Dakota, the station serves the Northern Black Hills area and 5 states including western South Dakota, southwestern North Dakota, southeastern Montana, northeastern Wyoming, and northwestern Nebraska. KDSJ plays the greatest hits of the 1960s and 1970s. We do throw in a few of the greatest hits from the 1950s and 1980s once in awhile, too.
KDSJ was first owned by Eli and Harry Daniels, who started the station in 1947. Al and Jeanne Decker (Goldrush Broadcasting, Inc) took over in July of 1982. Loren, Pace, and Renee Maier (4 Paws Broadcasting, LLC) took over in December of 2019. Carolyn and Doyle Becker (Riverfront Broadcasting, LLC) took over in July of 2020. KDSJ was then joined by five sister stations in western South Dakota: KDDX (X Rock) in Spearfish, KOTA (News Radio) in Rapid City, KQRQ (Q92-3) in Rapid City, KZLK (Z106-3) in Rapid City, and KZZI (The Eagle) in Spearfish.
KDSJ was originally located at 745 Main Street in Deadwood since 1953. KDSJ relocated to 2827 East Colorado Boulevard in Spearfish in July 2022 to join sister stations KDDX (X Rock) and KZZI (The Eagle) at one location in the Northern Black Hills.
