Black Hills Area Habitat For Humanity Gets Wells Fargo Boost To Build Two New Affordable Sustainable Homes

WHAT: As part of a nationwide effort to build and repair 350 affordable homes for families, the Wells Fargo Foundation awarded a $30,000 grant to Black Hills Area Habitat to construct two new homes in the Black Hills. On Tuesday, Sept. 12, Wells Fargo employees will join Black Hills Area Habitat to help build Habitat homes.

Through the 2023 Wells Fargo Builds program, the company is providing $7.5 million in grant funding to Habitat for Humanity International to support new home construction, renovation, or repair of more than 360 projected affordable homes in more than 230 communities across the U.S.

This activity is a part of a Wells Fargo initiative called Welcome Home, whereby Wells Fargo employees across the country are working with local charities to make an impact in the company foundation’s funding priority, housing affordability. Throughout the month of September, Wells Fargo employees will participate in volunteer events like this one in the Black Hills.

WHY: At least 1 in 11* South Dakota households spend more than half of their income on housing. The number of Black Hills area families who are struggling to afford rent is on the rise. For our partner families, this volunteer effort will take them one step closer to obtaining their dreams of home ownership.

WHEN: Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

WHERE: 1103 and 1107 Nellie, Corner of Nellie and Sherman Streets, Sturgis, South Dakota.
