14th Annual Calamity’s Shindig

The fourteenth annual Calamity’s Shindig is set to take place on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center (HARCC), located at 150 Sherman Street in Deadwood.

The event will feature musical performances by Kenny Putnam, Mike Connor, Carl Landstrom, and Guy Gullickson, offering a diverse range of fiddle tunes, jazz, soul, rock n’ roll, and original compositions. Attendees can enjoy hors d’oeuvres catered by Cheyenne Crossing, a cash bar, and both silent and live auctions.

Tickets for Calamity’s Shindig are priced at $50 per person and can be purchased online by CLICKING HERE or by calling 605-722-4800. Reservations are required.

During the festivities, guests will be entertained by Sarah Carlson, portraying the adventurous wildcat of the West, Calamity Jane, alongside Deadwood Alive’s Andy Mosher as Marshal Con Stapleton.

The live auction, hosted by Terry Hupp, will feature enticing items such as a Chuck Wagon dinner at the Days of ‘76 Museum, private catered dinners at the Historic Adams House, a 605 cabin rental, framed historic photographs and artwork, a Saloon No. 10 commemorative 60th Anniversary Yellowstone bourbon basket, and a handmade AR-15 platform 5.56mm caliber rifle.

Calamity Jane’s legendary persona, characterized by a rough and rowdy, independent, and free-spirited lifestyle, will be celebrated during the event. Despite her unconventional behavior, Calamity Jane exhibited a softer side as a mother, caregiver to the sick, and a generous individual. Deadwood History anticipates an engaging celebration of her extraordinary life.
