Black Hills State University women’s soccer head coach John Hutchison has announced the addition of Connor Campbell to his coaching staff for the 2024 season. He comes to BHSU after a four-year stint as head coach at NAIA member University of Jamestown.
“We are very excited to welcome Connor into our program, he has a great amount of experience in the college coaching world,” noted Hutchison. “Connor’s teams have always been very tough defensively, which is an area of focus for us, and we look forward to him working with us in this aspect. His great attention to detail and passion for the game will be a huge asset for our program and we can’t wait to come into this upcoming season with him.”
While at Jamestown this past season, Campbell coached a trio of Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Honorable Mention All-Conference honorees.
He held his first head coaching gig at Cincinnati Christian University at the NAIA level. After CCU closed their doors, Campbell became the head coach at Florida Memorial University (NAIA) from 2019-20.
“I’m extremely excited to be joining the staff with BHSU Soccer. I have a lot of respect for Coach John and am looking forward to working with him, Coach Amber, and the team building into an exciting future,” noted Campbell. “BHSU does a great job of supporting student-athletes and is a fantastic place to coach, recruit to and where student-athletes can thrive holistically. I’m ready to jump in with two feet and am looking forward to learning, growing and adding value wherever possible within the program as we continue to take steps forward in the RMAC and beyond.”
Campbell became the lead assistant coach and lead recruiter at NAIA Multnomah University (Ore.) from 2014-18.
He was a four-year starter for the George Fox University (Ore.) Bruins from 2007-10. After his playing career, he transitioned into the role of assistant coach at George Fox, where he spent two seasons (2011-12).
Campbell, a native of Salem, Oregon, holds a degree in Allied Health from George Fox. He’s currently working on a pair of graduate-level degrees: one in Sport Leadership from the University of Jamestown and a Master’s in Coaching Education: Soccer from Ohio University.
