Black Hills State will open the 2024 slate in front of the home crowd when they play host to the Bearcats of Southwest Baptist University (Mo.) on September 7 in the home-and-home series, following a 39-33 win in the first-ever meeting a season ago in Bolivar, Missouri.
Week two will see the Yellow Jackets conclude their non-conference slate with a road trip back to St. Paul, Minnesota to face NCAA Division I St. Thomas (Minn.) to open the season on September 14. In the first-ever clash between the two squads last season, the Yellow Jackets battled the Tommies, just falling by 10 points, 36-26, in UST’s third season as a member of the FCS and Pioneer Football League.
The RMAC portion of the schedule opens on September 21 when BHSU welcomes the Skyhawks of Fort Lewis College to Lyle Hare Stadium and Spearfish. The Fort Lewis weekend will also be the 2024 Swarm Days on the campus of Black Hills State University.
The Yellow Jackets will spend the next two weeks on the road, battling the two RMAC School of Mines in the back-to-back weeks. BH will travel to take on the defending NCAA Division II national runners-up in Colorado School of Mines in the final week of September (Sept. 28). Turning around the following week to open the month of October with a quick trip on I-90 down to battle the Hardrockers of South Dakota School of Mines in the 139th edition of the Black Hills Brawl.
After the two-week hiatus from Spearfish, Black Hills State will return home to clash with the Mountaineers of Western Colorado University on October 12. The Yellow Jackets will make their second trip into the state of Colorado on October 19 when they battle the Thunderwolves of CSU Pueblo.
Back at Lyle Hare Stadium for the second rivalry game of the season to wrap up the month of October when the Chadron College Eagles make the trip north. Black Hills State looks to keep the momentum rolling against the Eagles, winning the last two meetings and putting up 55 points in the 2023 clash in Spearfish.
The final trip to the state of Colorado will be to Grand Junction to open the month of November on November 2 as the Yellow Jackets are set to contend with the Colorado Mesa Mavericks.
Black Hills State will conclude the home slate on November 9 when they play host to the Grizzlies of Adams State University on November 9, before wrapping up the regular season schedule with a trip down south to Las Vegas, New Mexico to battle the Highlanders of New Mexico Highlands University.
