Governor Noem On Capitol Hill, Looking For Support For Homeland Security Nomination

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem was on Capitol Hill Wednesday, making the rounds, trying to garner support for her nomination as the next Homeland Security Secretary.

Noem was President-Elect Trump’s pick for the position. She has been very outspoken about the need for more security on the southern border with Mexico. Noem says she’s hopeful she’ll get bipartisan support for her nomination as Homeland Security Secretary.

Noem says, “We just had great conversations with Senator Peters, talked about concerns within the agencies, what we can do to solidify our national security interests. And I think Republicans and Democrats in our country recognize how important Homeland Security is and we’re working together to make sure we’re safe and thinking ahead as well. If you look at the different entities that are within Homeland Security, it’s not just border immigration, it’s TSA, weapons of mass destruction, it’s cyber security. All of those have some good work that can be done together.”

Noem says she’s hopeful she can have a conversation with Democrats on what can be done for America.
