Monument Health has finalized the purchase of Northern Hills Cinema in Spearfish, entering a lease agreement with local entrepreneurs Doug Markworth and Norm Fasse. This ensures the continued operation of the theater for the Spearfish community.
The acquisition, part of Monument Health’s long-term strategic planning, comes in response to recent news of the theater’s potential closure. Located adjacent to the Spearfish Hospital campus, the property offers both community and organizational value.
Markworth and Fasse have officially assumed operational control of the cinema, preserving a longstanding entertainment venue in the region. Monument Health will retain ownership of the building but will not be involved in day-to-day operations.
