The Lead-Deadwood Golddiggers suffered a 55–0 defeat Friday night against the undefeated and #2-ranked St. Thomas More Cavaliers, marking their 19th consecutive loss dating back to 2006. The shutout was the first time this year Lead-Deadwood failed to score, and the sixth straight shutout pitched by the Cavaliers.
With the loss, the Golddiggers ends the regular season 0–8 under first-year head coach Micheal Barnaud, while the Cavaliers finish a perfect 8–0. St. Thomas More enters the Class 11B Playoffs as the #2 seed, and will host #15-seeded Hot Springs Bison on Thursday in a rematch from two weeks ago, when the Cavaliers won 27-0 at Woodward Field in Hot Springs.
