The Hot Springs Lady Bison stunned Spearfish on Senior Night with a dramatic five-set victory (25-21, 14-25, 20-25, 28-26, 15-13) Tuesday evening, snapping a three-match losing streak against the Lady Spartans.
Hot Springs opened the match with a first-set win before Spearfish responded with dominant play in sets two and three. The turning point came in set four, when the Bison rallied from a 24-20 deficit and survived six match points to force extra play and steal the set 28-26. That momentum carried into the decisive fifth set, where Hot Springs’ defense held firm to secure the upset.
Spearfish honored nine seniors before the match, including key contributors Adelyn Bouman, Kali Reiners, Tabaha Zanstra, and Faith Hoffman. The loss drops the Spartans to 16-8 on the season.
Hot Springs concludes its regular season at 18-16 and now awaits seeding for the Class 8A regional tournament, which begins November 4. Spearfish will travel east this weekend to compete in the East/West Tournament at Harrisburg and Brandon Valley.
