The Rapid City Stevens Lady Raiders (4–2) rallied from an early deficit to defeat the Spearfish Lady Spartans (3–3) 50–39 on Tuesday night at Carold Heier Gym, securing their third straight win in the series.
Spearfish opened the game strong, jumping out to a 15–6 first‑quarter lead behind hot perimeter shooting from senior forward Adelyn Bouman, who went 3-for-3 from beyond the arc in the first half. All nine of her points came before halftime.
Stevens recovered quickly after its slow start, finding rhythm in the second quarter and outscoring Spearfish 12–5 to cut the deficit to 22–20 at the break.
The momentum fully shifted in the third quarter. Raiders head coach Adam Dannenbring had his team playing with increased physicality and defensive pressure, holding Spearfish to just seven points in the frame while Stevens put up 18 to take control of the game. The Spartans, who rebounded well early, struggled to match Stevens’ energy on the glass in the second half.
Spearfish senior guard Kate Scharf led the Spartans with 14 points, nine of which came after halftime. Senior Tiersyn Grubb added nine points and nine rebounds.
Turnovers proved costly for Spearfish, which committed 25 giveaways compared to Stevens’ 16.
The Raiders were paced by Hailey Falcon, who scored 14 points. Halle Peterson added 10, while eighth‑grader Marley Seumanutafa delivered a standout performance with seven points and a game‑high 10 rebounds.
Rapid City Stevens will face cross‑town rival Rapid City Central on Saturday. Spearfish returns home to host Hill City in a Black Hills Conference matchup on Thursday, Jan. 8. The game will be broadcast on KDSJ‑TV on YouTube and Facebook.
