The Spearfish Spartan boys’ and girls’ wrestling teams hosted Rapid City Central, Douglas/Rapid City Christian, and Belle Fourche on Thursday night in the annual Spearfish Quad, which also served as Senior Night for both squads.
Girls Results
The Lady Spartans turned in a dominant performance, finishing 3–0 in duals. Spearfish defeated Rapid City Central 48–33, Belle Fourche 59–17, and Douglas/Rapid City Christian 69–12. Depth played a major role, as the Spartans filled more weight classes than two of their three opponents, creating early separation on the scoreboard.
Belle Fourche went 0–3, but standout Kyra Vandenberg (100 lbs) posted a strong night, finishing 2–0 with two decisive wins. Rapid City Central finished 2–1, while Douglas/Rapid City Christian went 1–2.
Boys Results
On the boys’ side, Spearfish finished 1–2, earning a 48–32 win over Belle Fourche but falling 56–24 to No. 11 Rapid City Central and 41–40 to Douglas/Rapid City Christian.
The final dual of the night came down to the 113‑pound match with Spearfish leading 40–35. However, an injury to Jackson Truax forced the Spartans to forfeit the bout, giving Douglas/Rapid City Christian six points and the one‑point victory.
Rapid City Central finished with the top boys’ record at 3–0, followed by Douglas/Rapid City Christian and Spearfish at 1–2, and Belle Fourche at 0–3.
Rapid City Central’s boys travel to Casper, Wyo., for the Trojan Wars, while the Cobbler girls compete at the Harrisburg Invite. Belle Fourche, Douglas/Rapid City Christian, and Spearfish return to action Saturday at the Black Hills Conference Meet, hosted at Spearfish High School beginning at 1 p.m.
