The Spearfish Spartans made up for their loss against St. Thomas More with a dominant 70–38 win over Rapid City Central Thursday night, completing a season sweep of Class AA Rapid City Schools.
Junior forward Kade Vavruska led all scorers with 27 points on 10 of 16 shooting and added six rebounds. The performance lifts his season scoring average to 15.6 points per game.
Senior guard Bennett Kortan added 10 points and four steals, continuing his recent surge by increasing his scoring output for the third straight game. Teammate Kamren Davis scored 18, going 6-6 from the three-point line.
The victory moves Spearfish to 8–1, marking the program’s seventh straight home win dating back to last season. Rapid City Central fell to 2–8 and has now dropped eight consecutive games.
Spearfish returns to action Saturday at 2:30 p.m. when it hosts
