The Spearfish Lady Spartans (10–5) secured their 10th win of the season Thursday night with a dominant 60–20 road victory over the Custer Wildcats (5–13). Spearfish opened the game on a 23–6 first‑quarter run and maintained full control the rest of the way.
Senior guard Kate Scharf led all scorers with 15 points in just over two quarters of action. Senior Adelyn Bouman added nine, while senior Kali Reiners knocked down a pair of three‑pointers to finish with six. Junior Avery Rauterkus and freshman Megan Markovitz each scored eight off the bench.
Markovitz handled point‑guard duties for much of the night and managed Custer’s full‑court pressure effectively, earning her Superior Performer honors.
Custer was led by freshman guard Emarsyn Jaure, who scored nine points. Only four Wildcats reached the scoring column in the loss, which marked their 13th defeat of the season. Custer returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Hill City.
Spearfish improves to 10–5 and returns home Tuesday to face Rapid City Christian. The game will air on KDSJ 980 AM, 103.5 FM, KDSJ980.com, and the KDSJ Mobile App, with video streaming available on KDSJ‑TV on YouTube and KDSJ Radio on Facebook. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
