Sturgis Brown High School Activities Director Jade Temple announced that Sharon Peterson has been selected as the Scoopers’ next head volleyball coach, pending approval from the Board of Education.
Peterson, a Sturgis native and Scooper alum, will succeed Timmi Lewis, who stepped down following the 2025 season.
A former standout setter for Sturgis, Peterson helped lead the Scoopers to an eighth‑place finish at the State AA Tournament in 1999–2000 and earned a spot on the 2001 South Dakota North All‑Star Team.
Her coaching career began in 2002 at the middle school level before she moved into high school coaching. Peterson previously served as Sturgis Brown’s head volleyball coach from 2005 to 2014, guiding the program through a decade of competitive seasons.
In recent years, she has remained active in the sport through league play, coaching her daughters’ AAU teams, and volunteering with the high school program.
“Sharon’s passion for volleyball and commitment to developing student‑athletes have remained strong throughout her career,” Temple said. “We are excited for her return to the program and for her contributions to its continued growth.”
