The Spearfish Lady Spartans (10–5) open the final stretch of their regular season tonight when they host the Rapid City Christian Lady Comets (15–3) in the Black Hills Conference finale for both teams. Spearfish enters on a three‑game winning streak, while both programs remain in contention for a top‑three conference finish.
Spearfish has found its offensive rhythm in recent weeks, scoring 60 or more points in four of its last six games while going 5–1 during that span. Senior guard Kate Scharf continues to lead the Spartans at more than 14 points per game, but the supporting cast has surged as well. Senior Adelyn Bouman has emerged as a reliable perimeter threat at 7.9 points per game, while Kali Reiners has delivered strong shooting performances in recent outings. Bench contributors Sierra Sandford, Anna Eisenbarth, Megan Markovitz, and Finley Bouman have also provided efficient scoring during the second half of the season.
Spearfish will face one of its toughest defensive tests tonight. Rapid City Christian averages more than 60 points per game while holding opponents to just 38. The Comets are led by Brynn Casey and Sadie Marshal, both averaging double figures. Christian’s full‑court pressure has produced nearly 20 steals per game, often turning turnovers into quick scoring opportunities.
The Comets also bring a résumé of quality wins, including a 55–54 victory over defending Class A state champion Sioux Falls Christian and a 42–40 win over perennial contender West Central, underscoring their ability to compete with top‑tier programs.
Tonight’s game will be streamed live on KDSJ‑TV on YouTube, with Claysen Davis and Paul James on the call. Radio coverage is available on KDSJ 980 AM, 103.5 FM, KDSJ980.com, and the KDSJ Sports Mobile App.
Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Spearfish.
