Restoration work is set to begin this spring at Deadwood’s historic Mount Moriah Cemetery. City commissioners have awarded a $120,250 contract to Fuller Construction to repair aging retaining walls, reslope sinking plots, improve drainage, and replace damaged concrete caps at about 20 gravesites near the cemetery entrance.
Officials say some monuments will be reset in their proper locations, but no graves are expected to be disturbed. The cemetery will remain open during construction, with work areas temporarily barricaded.
The project is scheduled to be completed by June 30.
