A surge of West River talent made its presence felt Friday as the State A and B wrestling tournaments continued in Sioux Falls, with standout performances from Spearfish, Sturgis, Lead‑Deadwood, Belle Fourche, Custer, Hot Springs, and Harding County.
Sturgis pushes six boys into the State A finals
Sturgis Brown delivered one of the strongest semifinal rounds in the state, advancing six wrestlers to Saturday’s championship matches. According to tournament results, Sullivan Sigman (106), Tyler Baldwin (120), Mason Hagen (138), Benjamin Nadig (150), Kelson Dirk (190), and Zhoel Irion (215) all punched their tickets to the finals after dominant semifinal wins.
The Scoopers also celebrated a girls’ finalist:
- Annalee Pierson (110), who secured her championship berth with a semifinal fall.

Spearfish enjoyed a strong day on the girls’ side, highlighted by:
