The Spearfish girls’ basketball team ended its regular season on a high note Tuesday, defeating Brookings 59–27 behind a balanced offensive performance. The win moves the Lady Spartans to 12–8 and extends their winning streak to three games.
Senior Adelyn Bouman led all scorers with 18 points, earning Superior Performer honors. Senior Kate Scharf added 16, while junior Anna Eisenbarth contributed nine points—all from beyond the arc. Senior Tiersyn Grubb posted eight points and led Spearfish in rebounding.
Spearfish controlled the game from the opening tip, doubling Brookings’ scoring output in the first half and maintaining that momentum through the final two quarters. Brookings struggled to convert inside, with the Spartans limiting second‑chance opportunities through strong defensive rebounding.
Senior Sloan McLangen led the Bobcats with 10 points, all in the first quarter. Sophomores Julia Burns and Tessa Connot finished with six and five points, respectively, while Taylee Connot added four, and freshman Harper Hook scored two.
The loss ends Brookings’ season at 3–17, outside the top‑16 cutoff for SoDak 16 qualification. Spearfish finishes 10th in the Class AA power‑point standings and will travel to No. 7 Mitchell on Friday for its SoDak 16 matchup. The Spartans previously rallied from 20 points down to defeat the Kernels 61–55 earlier this season.
Tipoff from Mitchell is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. MT, with coverage on KDSJ‑TV on YouTube and KDSJ Radio’s Facebook page.
