Spearfish High School has hired Lyric Williams as its new head dance coach, the school announced this week. Williams replaces former coach Jessie Jeffery, who stepped down following the 2025 season.
Williams is a Spearfish High School graduate and is in her first year of teaching at the school. She earned her degree from Colorado State University, where she was a member of the CSU Hip Hop Dance Club and served as the club’s president for one year. She also worked as a gymnastics choreographer during college, creating floor routines for programs in Wyoming and North Dakota — work she continues during the summer.
As head coach, Williams will lead the Spartans into the upcoming dance season and take over a program that has grown steadily in recent years.
Spearfish Activities Director Dalton Wademan said Williams brings strong choreography experience and enthusiasm to the role and expressed confidence in her ability to guide the team.
