Pennington County authorities are investigating what appears to be an accidental shooting that claimed the life of a 10‑year‑old child near Owanka.
Deputies were called to the scene on March 22nd, where they found the juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound. Investigators say the incident appears to be family‑related and accidental. Despite emergency response efforts from deputies and the Rapid City Fire Department, the child died from their injuries.
The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office says the case remains under active investigation, and no further details have been released.
