A Rapid City man has been sentenced to more than two years in federal prison for illegally possessing ammunition.
Twenty‑seven‑year‑old Bradley Two Eagle was sentenced on May 8 to two‑and‑a‑half years behind bars, followed by three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay a one‑hundred‑dollar special assessment.
Federal prosecutors say the case began in October of last year when Rapid City police responded to reports of gunshots. Officers contacted Two Eagle, who gave a false name and then ran from police. Authorities say he threw ammunition to the ground while fleeing and was later arrested. Officers also recovered a methamphetamine syringe.
Because of a prior felony conviction and drug use, federal law prohibited Two Eagle from possessing ammunition. He pleaded guilty earlier this year.
The case was investigated by the ATF and the Rapid City Police Department and prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
