City leaders in Sturgis are seeing signs of financial improvement.
According to Finance Officer Ann Bertolotto, the city’s total cash across all accounts has grown to nearly $9.2 million, following steady increases over the past three years.
Checking and savings balances alone rose from just over $200,000 in 2023 to about $7.6 million this year.
Officials say the growth comes after budget cuts, staffing reductions, delayed capital projects, and improved revenue—especially from updated ambulance billing practices.
The stronger cash position follows earlier financial challenges, including unreconciled accounts in 2023 and 2024.
Bertolotto says the improved outlook could help the city move forward with projects and plan more confidently for future budgets.
