Calamity’s Climb rock tower is back at Outlaw Square, offering a new round of outdoor fun for visitors in Deadwood. The popular attraction reopened Thursday and will remain in operation through October, though hours may vary depending on scheduled concerts and events in the square.
The climbing tower will typically be open Mondays from 12:30 to 4 p.m., with extended hours from 12:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and most Fridays through Sundays. It will be closed every Wednesday to make way for the weekly concert series.
Admission costs $8 for ages 6 to 16 and $10 for those 17 and older, with each ticket including up to two climbs.
Outlaw Square Director Bobby Rock says the tower was added to expand daytime activities for families visiting the area. He says the goal was to give kids and families another reason to enjoy the square between concerts and movies.
To climb, participants must be at least 6 years old, 40 inches tall, and weigh between 40 and 250 pounds. Close-toed shoes or sandals are required, and all climbers must sign a waiver.
Calamity’s Climb is expected to be a staple attraction throughout the summer and early fall at Outlaw Square.
