The Rapid City Historic Preservation Commission is asking for the public’s help in shaping the future of the city’s historic character.
In partnership with Old School Heritage Solutions, the commission is hosting a series of free workshops and visioning sessions at City Hall, running May 14th through the 16th.
The sessions will include both classroom-style learning and hands-on field experiences, with a focus on the Downtown Historic District and the West Boulevard Historic District.
Organizers say the goal is to give residents a better understanding of how preservation decisions are made, while also gathering community ideas on how to protect and enhance Rapid City’s historic areas.
The events are open to the public and include refreshments. While registration is encouraged online, residents can also sign up or get more information by calling Jennifer Bergstrom at 605-394-4120, extension 2339, or by email.
City leaders say the sessions are an opportunity for the community to play a direct role in preserving Rapid City’s history for future generations.
