
Minor injuries were reported following a collision between a Sturgis police vehicle and a Cadillac Escalade.
Sturgis Police Chief Geody Vandewater says the accident happened when an officer was attempting to catch up with a vehicle involved in a traffic complaint and was traveling westbound on Lazelle.
A Cadillac Escalade driving eastbound attempted to make a left hand turn in front of the of the patrol vehicle and they both collided.
Vandewater says both drivers suffered minor injuries and were transported to the Sturgis Hospital to be checked out.
The accident, which happened around noon, slowed traffic in the westbound lanes.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol will investigate the crash.
