The Belle Fourche School District has hired Beau Garcia as its new activities director, district officials announced. Garcia replaces Adam Nowowiejski, who is leaving the district to pursue another professional opportunity.
Garcia comes to Belle Fourche after 13 years in Upton, Wyoming, and will take over leadership of the district’s athletic and extracurricular programs as preparations begin for the 2026–27 school year. His background includes experience working with student activities and building programs at the school level.
Garcia has already begun to acquaint himself with Belle Fourche’s student-athletes, attending recent postseason events including the regional golf tournament and the South Dakota State Track and Field Meet at Howard Wood Field. His early focus has been on observing programs and beginning to establish connections within the district.
Nowowiejski departs after a tenure in which he oversaw the district’s activities program and worked alongside school leadership and the school board. He described his time in Belle Fourche as positive and indicated the transition comes as he seeks a new professional path.
The outgoing director also expressed confidence in Garcia’s ability to continue the district’s success, noting the program’s stability and established foundation.
Garcia inherits a program with a history of competitiveness in athletics and strong participation in extracurricular activities. His priorities include supporting student-athletes, strengthening relationships with coaches and the community, and maintaining opportunities for student involvement across programs.
With summer activities already underway and fall sports approaching, Garcia is set to assume duties during a key transition period leading into the upcoming academic year.
