Rapid City police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early this morning.
Officers were dispatched around 12:30 a.m. to a residence on Palm Drive after receiving a report of a shooting. When they arrived, police located a man in the parking lot who was identified as the suspect.
Authorities say the individual, 21-year-old Christopher Tromp of Rapid City, was detained at the scene. Officers then entered the apartment, where they found a male victim who had died from his injuries.
Tromp was taken to the Public Safety Building for questioning and was later arrested on a charge of first-degree manslaughter.
The name of the victim has not yet been released, as officials work to notify next of kin.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
