Spearfish Post 164 Sr. Legion was overpowered in a Friday doubleheader at Pierre Post 8, falling 15–2 in the opener and 10–0 in the nightcap at Hyde Stadium.
Game 1: Pierre’s 11‑Run First Inning Sinks Spearfish
Pierre seized control immediately in Game 1, erupting for 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning. The rally featured nine hits, including RBI swings from Sutton Sonnenschein, Alec Eilers, Aydan Johnson, Porter Hunsley, Will Danburg, Carter Schiefelbein, and Will Eilers.
Pierre added three more runs in the second to extend the lead to 14–0.
Spearfish broke through later with RBI from Tucker Olson and Jack Scharf. Olson, Darin Crooks, Scharf, and Bray Bowar each recorded a hit.
Pierre finished with 14 hits, led by Sonnenschein and Eilers, who each went 3-for-3. Will Donburg earned the win in relief. Walker Viessman took the loss for Spearfish.
Game 2: Shaffer No-Hits Post 164 In 10–0 Finale
Pierre completed the sweep behind a dominant outing from Hudson Shaffer, who threw a five‑inning no‑hitter with two strikeouts and two walks.
Pierre scored twice in the first inning, then broke the game open with a five‑run third, highlighted by Schiefelbein’s three‑run single. Porter Hunsley, Will Eilers, and Jackson Goodman each collected two hits.
Scharf started for Spearfish, allowing seven runs (three earned) in 2⅔ innings.
