Local children will have a chance to explore careers in construction and the skilled trades at the Black Hills Home Builders Association’s annual Kids Construction Camp.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 8th, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Shepherd Hills Housing Development on Isaac Street in Rapid City. Check-in begins at 8:45 a.m., and lunch will be provided for participants.
Organizers say the camp is designed to give children a hands-on introduction to the residential construction industry. Participants will work alongside builders and industry professionals, rotating through interactive stations where they can learn basic building skills and gain exposure to a variety of construction-related careers.
The event comes as the Black Hills region continues to experience residential growth and a rising demand for skilled trades workers.
Association leaders say the camp aims to inspire the next generation of builders while helping young people learn about career opportunities available in the construction industry.
