Runners and walkers wrapped up the Fourth of July holiday weekend in Rapid City with a patriotic race through the city’s downtown area.
The America’s 250th Birthday 5K took place Sunday morning at Memorial Park, with participants gathering before the 7:30 a.m. start. Many runners showed their patriotic spirit by wearing red, white, and blue and carrying American flags.
The race course guided participants through downtown Rapid City, including the City of Presidents area. Organizers said the event was designed for all experience levels, from competitive runners aiming for personal bests to families and friends enjoying a walk together.
Following the race, participants gathered at the finish line for photos and celebrations, helping cap off a busy Independence Day weekend in the Black Hills.
