Construction of Belle Fourche’s new police department is more than 60 percent complete and could be ready for officers to move in by mid-November.
Police Chief Ryan Cherveny says the modern facility will replace the city’s aging schoolhouse-turned-police station and provide much-needed upgrades, including secure evidence storage, proper holding cells, vehicle maintenance space, and dedicated training areas.
City officials say the project remains under budget despite several change orders and is on schedule thanks to favorable construction weather.
The new building will also feature a large public lobby and a bus stop area for students, giving them a safe, warm place to wait during cold weather.
City leaders say the facility is designed to better serve both law enforcement and the broader Belle Fourche community for years to come.
