The Spearfish Sasquatch closed out a perfect four-game homestand in emphatic fashion Thursday night, pounding out 18 hits and rolling to a 16-6 victory over Bison Baseball at Black Hills Energy Stadium.
Leading the offensive explosion was Carter Towns, who delivered one of the most complete performances of the season. Towns went 4-for-5 at the plate, highlighted by a towering two-run home run in the second inning, a triple in the seventh, and a pair of singles as the Sasquatch completed a four-game home sweep in front of the hometown crowd.
Spearfish struck first in the opening inning when Noah Betanco lined a run-scoring single, but Bison Baseball answered in the second. Nyte Teeter drew a bases-loaded walk, and Nate Evans followed with a three-run double to give the visitors a 4-1 advantage.
The Sasquatch wasted little time responding.
In the bottom of the second, Spearfish erupted for seven runs to seize control. Betanco drove in two with a single down the left-field line, Sam Kwapnioski added a two-run double, and Towns capped the rally with a two-run blast to right field that energized the crowd and put Spearfish back on top for good.
The offense kept rolling in the fourth inning. Braden Smith launched a two-run homer as part of a five-run frame. Lopez drew a bases-loaded walk, Betanco added another RBI single, and Kwapnioski contributed a run-scoring hit as the Sasquatch stretched the lead into double digits.
Malakai Lopez added to the fireworks in the sixth inning with a solo home run to left field.
On the mound, Aidan Bahn earned the victory after working four innings, allowing four runs on four hits while striking out two. Reliever Mac Hibben provided a steady inning of scoreless relief, helping the Sasquatch maintain control throughout the evening.
Betanco matched Towns with a big night at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Lopez, Smith, Kwapnioski and Lucas Terilli each recorded multiple hits as Spearfish’s lineup produced runs from top to bottom.
The Sasquatch were sharp defensively as well, turning two double plays and committing no errors. Smith led the defensive effort with eight chances in the field.
For Bison Baseball, Evans paced the offense with two hits, three RBIs and two walks, while Joseph Krahner also collected two hits.
The victory sends Spearfish into the road portion of its schedule riding plenty of momentum after a dominant home stand. The Sasquatch will look to keep their winning streak alive when they travel to face the Oahe Zap on Monday.
