Emergency crews in Hot Springs responded to a serious equipment accident Monday morning involving a trapped worker.
According to responders, crews were dispatched just before 10 a.m. after receiving reports of an overturned piece of equipment with a person trapped underneath. Upon arrival, firefighters found the equipment had slid off a trailer while being unloaded, pinning the individual beneath it.
Rescue crews worked together to lift the equipment and safely free the patient. The injured worker was then transported by Black Hills Life Flight to Rapid City for treatment.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including Hot Springs Ambulance Service, Black Hills Life Flight, the Hot Springs Police Department, the Fall River County Sheriff’s Office, and City of Hot Springs Street and water department employees.
Officials credited the successful rescue to the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies.
