Heartland Animal Rescue is asking for community support after helping remove more than 30 kittens and several mother cats from a hoarding situation in Belle Fourche.
The organization says it was contacted by a state agency and has since rescued 31 kittens from seven litters, along with their mothers. While many of the animals have already been placed in foster homes or transferred to partner rescues, more foster families are still needed.
Rescue officials say the cats and kittens arrived in varying conditions. Several are receiving treatment for eye infections, ear mites, and skin issues. One kitten has a neurological disorder, and another lost two legs after a birth complication.
Heartland Animal Rescue is seeking donations to help cover veterinary expenses, including vaccinations, spay and neuter surgeries, and other medical care. The rescue is also accepting supplies and foster applications.
Donation drop-off locations have been set up at West Tire and Monument Health Clinic in Belle Fourche.
