A piece of American history is making its way to the Black Hills next week.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s Steel Across America Tour will stop at Mount Rushmore on Tuesday, July 28th, at 10 a.m. as part of a nationwide journey commemorating the anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.
The tour features a nearly 17,000-pound steel beam recovered from the original World Trade Center in New York City. The artifact serves as a powerful reminder of the lives lost and the sacrifices made on September 11, 2001.
During the Mount Rushmore stop, first responders and law enforcement personnel will take part in a special ceremony honoring victims, survivors, and those who answered the call in the aftermath of the attacks.
The Steel Across America Tour will travel more than 10,000 miles, making more than 35 stops across 21 states and Washington, D.C., before concluding its national tribute.
The public is encouraged to attend and pay their respects during the ceremony at Mount Rushmore next Tuesday morning.
