Rapid City drivers should expect traffic delays and detours as several construction projects get underway across the city over the next week.
The first project begins Friday at the intersection of Fifth and Meade streets, where Dakota Asphalt will make ADA sidewalk accessibility improvements. One lane of traffic will be closed during the work, which is expected to wrap up by August 7th.
Starting Monday, crews with Heavy Constructors Incorporated will begin utility line installation along Canyon Lake Drive between Minnekahta Drive and Hillsview Drive. Lane closures will be in place, and pedestrians will be detoured to the west side of Canyon Lake Drive. That project is scheduled to continue through August 13th.
A larger street improvement project begins Wednesday on Hoefer Court and Maywood Drive. Tru-Form Construction will complete asphalt repairs, replace curb and gutter sections, and install new ADA-compliant sidewalks. Hoefer Court will be closed to through traffic, and Maywood Drive will be closed between East Meade Street and East Tallent Street. Construction is expected to continue through October 30th.
City officials are reminding motorists to slow down in work zones, watch for construction crews and equipment, and follow all posted detour signs.
