A Rapid City man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after being convicted of multiple crimes involving the attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.
U.S. Attorney Ron Parsons announced that 23-year-old Kyle Beck was sentenced July 24 by U.S. District Judge Karen Schreier. In addition to the prison term, Beck will serve five years of supervised release after completing his sentence.
Federal prosecutors said Beck was found guilty following a bench trial in May. Evidence presented in court showed that in May 2023, Beck contacted a 15-year-old girl through Instagram and requested sexually explicit photographs. Authorities said Beck later admitted his actions during an interview with investigators.
The case was investigated by the South Dakota Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, the Rapid City Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations.
Beck has been remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
