An 18-year-old Pine Ridge man is facing felony charges after allegedly forcing his way into a Rapid City apartment and threatening a resident with a handgun.
Rapid City Police say officers responded just before 1 a.m. Thursday to an apartment in the 200 block of East Knollwood Drive after receiving a report of a man entering the residence without permission and threatening someone with a firearm.
The suspect had left the area before officers arrived, but police soon located a man matching the description nearby. When officers attempted to make contact, the man allegedly fled on foot, leading police on a brief chase before being taken into custody.
Authorities identified the suspect as Aaron Brown, 18, of Pine Ridge. Investigators say a witness positively identified Brown as the person involved, and officers recovered a handgun along the route he reportedly took while fleeing.
Brown was arrested and booked into the Pennington County Jail on charges of first-degree burglary and aggravated assault.
The investigation remains ongoing.
