An 18-year-old Rapid City man and a juvenile have been arrested following a shooting incident north of Rapid City.
The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a report of shots fired at a residence on 225th Street around 11 p.m. Saturday. Investigators found evidence that multiple rounds struck the home, but no injuries were reported.
Authorities say the victim identified a vehicle believed to be involved and provided that information to law enforcement. Rapid City Police later located the vehicle at a Rapid City residence and detained suspects.
Following the execution of search warrants, investigators recovered evidence connected to the case. Eighteen-year-old Jaycias Flying Horse of Rapid City was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, discharging a firearm at an occupied structure, receiving stolen property, and underage consumption. A juvenile was also taken into custody on related charges.
The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains active and additional charges are possible. Officials add there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.
The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Rapid City Police Department and the South Dakota Highway Patrol for assisting with the investigation.
As always, the charges are allegations, and all individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
