BLACK HILLS, S.D. — Fire crews across the Black Hills and northeast Wyoming responded to several small wildfires on Wednesday, with all but one quickly brought under control.
The Spearfish Creek Fire, reported around noon south of Spearfish east of Highway 14A, was contained at approximately three-tenths of an acre.
Near Lead, the Strawberry Fire burned just one-tenth of an acre in rugged terrain southeast of the city before crews contained it.
In northeast Wyoming, the Medicine Lake Fire, located east of Interstate 90 near Moskee Road, was held to just over one acre. Nearby, firefighters continue battling the Red Canyon Fire, which has burned an estimated 28 acres since it was reported Wednesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Rocks Fire west of Sundance was contained at approximately 1.2 acres.
