RAPID CITY, S.D. – History will come to life at Wind Cave National Park Thursday evening as Theodore Roosevelt impersonator Kurt Skinner brings the nation’s 26th president to the Black Hills.
Skinner, a retired military officer and former high school history teacher, will perform at 7 p.m. at the Elk Mountain Campground Amphitheater. The free program is sponsored by the Friends of Wind Cave National Park.
Known for his engaging living history presentations, Skinner has spent years studying Roosevelt and travels across the country portraying the former president. His performance will highlight Roosevelt’s life, leadership, and vision for America.
While Roosevelt never personally visited Wind Cave, he played a key role in its history by signing the legislation that established Wind Cave National Park in 1903.
Organizers say programs like this help connect visitors with the park’s history while supporting its educational and preservation efforts.
The event is free and open to the public.
