BLACKHAWK, S.D. – The South Dakota Highway Patrol has identified the motorcyclist who died in a crash northwest of Black Hawk last week.
Authorities say 44-year-old Francis Michael Bierman of Summerset was riding west on Erickson Ranch Road near Escape Lane Wednesday morning when he lost control while negotiating a curve. Investigators say Bierman laid the motorcycle down, left the roadway, and was thrown from the bike.
Bierman died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The Highway Patrol says he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The crash happened about a mile northwest of Black Hawk and remains under investigation.
