DUPREE, S.D. – Authorities are investigating the death of an elderly man who was found unresponsive in the Dupree area of Ziebach County.
The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe announced the investigation over the weekend. Law enforcement officials say early findings indicate the death appears to be from natural causes, and investigators have found no obvious signs of foul play.
Despite those initial findings, authorities say a final determination will not be made until the investigation is complete.
Officials are extending condolences to the man’s family and are asking the public to respect their privacy during this difficult time.
